Clerk/Treasurer- FT

The Village of Newburg is seeking a qualified, detail-oriented, and service-minded professional to serve as City Clerk/Treasurer. This is a key position responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Village’s records, financial operations, and election administration.

Position Summary

The Village Clerk/Treasurer serves as the official record keeper and financial officer for the Village, ensuring compliance with state statutes, municipal ordinances, and established policies. This position works closely with elected officials, Village Administrator, department heads, and the public to support transparent and efficient municipal operations. This position directly reports to the Village Administrator and Village Board of Trustees within respective duties. 
 

Key Responsibilities
 • Serve as Clerk of the Village Board of Trustees and maintain official Village records, resolutions, ordinances, and minutes
 • Administer local, state, and federal elections in compliance with Wisconsin statutes
 • Manage all municipal financial functions, including accounting, payroll, utility billing, investments, and financial reporting and auditing
 • Prepare and publish required notices, reports, and agendas
 • Oversee public records requests and compliance with open records and open meetings laws
 • Supervise assigned staff and coordinate training as needed
 

Qualifications
 • 2 years prior municipal experience 
 • Knowledge of Wisconsin municipal law, elections, and public finance
 • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
 • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
 • Certification as a Municipal Clerk or Treasurer (or ability to obtain) preferred
 • Workhorse Accounting Software knowledge
 • Strong Municipal Accounting background preferred
