The Village Clerk is responsible for establishing polling places, acquiring voting equipment, recruiting and training poll workers, maintaining voter lists, administering absentee voting, and supervising the conduct of elections on Election Day.

An election will be held in the Village of Newburg, on Tuesday, April 7th, 2026. The following offices are to be elected to succeed the present incumbents listed:

The term for village trustee begins on April 21, 2026. All terms are for two years unless otherwise indicated.
For Candidates
The first day to circulate nomination papers is December 1,2025 and the final day for filing nomination papers is 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, in the office of the village clerk.
Primary Election
If a primary is necessary, the primary will be held on Tuesday, February 17th, 2026.
Additional Information
Acceptable Photo ID will be required to vote at this election. If you do not have a photo ID you may obtain a free ID for voting from the Division of Motor Vehicles.

At the Spring Election on April 7, 2026, village residents will select up to 3 candidates for Village Trustee.
Interested candidates for Village Trustee may begin circulating nomination papers for the 2026 Spring Election on December 1, 2025. Candidates must submit the following paperwork to the Village Clerk, no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 or the candidate's name will not be placed on the ballot.

If an incumbent candidate chooses not to seek re-election, the Notification on Noncandidacy form should be received by the Village Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on the 2nd Friday preceding the deadline for filing ballot access documents to avoid an extension of time for filing such papers.

Voters may request absentee ballots by mail at MyVote Wisconsin. If preferred, click here for the Absentee Ballots request form. For regular and overseas voters, the deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail is the 5th day preceding the election.

When requesting absentee ballots in person, pursuant to Wis. Stats 6.86(1)(b), the absentee ballot application shall be made no earlier than 14 days preceding the election and no later than the Sunday preceding the election.
Voters may register and verify their current registration status at MyVote Wisconsin. Pursuant to State Statute 6.28(1), electors registering to vote online must complete registration by no later than 11:59 p.m. on the 3rd Wednesday before the election.
If preferred, electors may register by mail by submitting the Voter Registration form with proof of residency. Pursuant to State Statute 6.28(1), electors submitting registration by mail, must have their registration postmarked no later than the 3rd Wednesday before the election.
Voters may register in person at Village Hall, 620 W. Main Street, up to the Friday preceding the election or on election day.

The Village of Newburg is governed by a non-partisan Board of Trustees consisting of seven members. The Village President is the member that presides over meetings and is considered “first amongst equals.” The Village President along with three Trustees are elected in the spring of odd-numbered years for two-year terms, and the remaining three Trustees are elected in the spring of even years for two-year terms. Please see the village clerk if you are interested in running for a position on the Board of Trustees. The process involves circulating nomination papers, which runs from early December to early January each year for the upcoming spring election. Also of note; in the event of a position vacancy, the Board may choose to appoint someone to fill it, to hold a special election, or to allow it to remain vacant until the seat’s normally scheduled election is held.
As the Village lies between two counties, we hold elections for both Washington and Ozaukee County elected officials, and of course, State of Wisconsin, and U.S. Federal government leadership. Non-partisan elections are held in the spring and partisan elections are held in the fall. Each season holds a general election where the winner is selected by the majority vote. If so many candidates run for a position that it creates a contest that is more than two candidates for each seat available, there is a primary election held with a goal of allowing only the two most popular candidates to proceed to the general election.
